Ghana - December 10-15
Monday started out with a Christmas devotional that was held in the Stake Center on the grounds of the temple. The devotional was for all of the employees that work for the church. It was very nice, with several musical numbers and a short talk by Elder Curtis. After the devotional they served everyone lunch. The luncheon was very nice, they had rice, chicken, fish, plantains, fruit and several dishes that I did not recognize. For dessert they actually served ice cream.
Tuesday, we tried the grocery store again. We went to a new store in a new mall, it turned out to be very expensive and we did not buy much. We then went to another larger store, but I am having a very hard time finding the things I want and the food is very expensive. I think the local people must buy most of their food from the local vendors and fruit stands. I have been afraid to do that, but I am thinking I should at least try the fruit stands.

On Wednesday evening we had an interesting experience. We were suppose to pick Elder and Sister Dickson up from the airport at 5:00 PM. Elder Dickson then called and said that they would not be arrive until 7:00 PM. At 6:00 PM he called to say it would be 8:00 PM. So Kent and I got to the airport by 8:00 and he called to say they were just getting on the plane in Nigeria. It takes about an hour and a half to fly from Nigeria. At this point, Kent and I decided to just sit and people watch, rather than to leave. Finally about 9:30 PM they arrived. They said it was not unusual that flights are delayed or cancelled.
On Friday, we noticed that there were lots of missionaries at the temple. The mission brought all of the missionaries together for a special Christmas treat and a lunch. We took pictures of a few of them so that we could send a copy to their parents. These missionaries were all from the states. The Bottom one was from Alpine, Utah
Earlier in the week, we had a missionary experience. Elder and Sister Haws, a missionary couple that lives down the hall from us found a young man named Paul. He was very interested in the Church and asked if he could bring some friends and come over to the temple grounds. On the day that he picked to come, Elder and Sister Haws could not be here, so they asked us to show them around. We told them about the temple and took their picture.
Saturday December 15th - Paul decided to be baptized. We went with Elder and Sister Haws to the Tantra Hills Ward for the baptism. There were also two other people to be baptized. We met the missionaries who taught them and enjoyed the program. Kent was a witness and I said the closing prayer.

After the Baptism, Kent and I were on our own, to back to our Apartment. We actually did very well, until we decided to do a little sightseeing. We down to Freedom Square and then we made a few turns and ended up in the middle of a huge market. Being Saturday, there were hundreds of people and a traffic jam. It took a long time to get out of it. Here are a few pictures.
